News Death Notice

NIEHAUS, Robert J. age 85 of Ross Township, Ohio passed away Sunday evening, June 22, 2014 at West Chester Hospital. Bob was born on August 30, 1928 the son of Oscar and Margaret (Miller) Niehaus. He grew up on Dry Ridge Rd. with his sister Rita and three brothers, Howard, Paul and Clifford. In October of 1951 at St. John's Church, he married Vivian Pollwine. Together they raised their children, Nancy, Mary Ann, Joe and Jim. He started working at Tragesser's in Ross and later he and Bill Witte opened their own business "Witte and Niehaus Garage". Vivian and Bob purchased their long admired farm in 1963 and it became a family business with the entire family working together. They had many long-time friends, loved to socialize and Bob never knew a stranger. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a former Ross volunteer fireman, and loved to play and coach softball. He was preceded in death by his beloved Vivian in 2010 and by his parents. He is survived by his children, Nancy Niehaus Casper and her husband, David; Mary Ann Niehaus-O'Toole and her husband, Frank and their three children, Frank, Maggie and Shannon O'Toole; Joseph Niehaus and his wife, Vicki and her daughter, Aubrey Ballinger; James Niehaus and Joan Louth; six step grandchildren; his three brothers, Howard, Paul, and Clifford Niehaus; one sister, Rita Anderson and many other loving relatives and many friends. His family loved him very much and admired his work ethic, honesty, courage and faith. Visitation will be held at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Rd. Ross, Ohio on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dry Ridge, Ohio on Thursday at 10 a.m. with burial following in St. John Cemetery.
