News Death Notice

MINOR, Joseph E. 81, of Monroe, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown, on September 14, 1932 to parents Richard Morris and Marguerite (Leight) Minor SR. Mr. Minor was a manager for First Financial Bank for 42 years and served in The United States Navy. Joe was a 4th generation member of Christ United Methodist Church where he attended over 50 years and sang in the choir. He just completed over 40 years of service at Christ Church as Treasurer of General Fund and then as Building Fund Treasurer. Joe was a 50 year member of Eastern Star Prosser #367 Chapter and served as their organist. He was also a member of Jefferson Lodge #90 F.&A.M., was active with Habitat for Humanity, Food Pantry and SHALOM. Joe was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and prepared many meals at church and he was noted for his salad dressing and barbeque. Mr. Minor is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Schneider) Minor; son, Michael P. (Wendy) Minor; sister, Sandra (Donald) Minor Smith and grandchildren, Sarah (Ethan) Minor Britton, Corinne Minor and Matthew Minor, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard M. Minor II, Robert G. Minor and John E. Minor; sister, Margaret Ann Bell. Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 700 S. Marshall Rd., Middletown with Rev. Norman Coleman III officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson- Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. With Eastern Star services at 7:30pm.
