Fred G. DAVIS Obituary

News Death Notice

DAVIS, Fred G. age 78, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born November 5, 1935 in Middletown, OH to Eugene Davis and Gertrude (Gayhart) Davis. He worked at Sorg Paper Company for 45 years. Fred was a member of Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Maineville, OH and also was a member of Lebanon and Middletown Eagles and Middletown Moose Lodge. Fred never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes and stories. He had a great laugh and a quick-witted sense of humor. He adored his wife, he loved his children and was a wonderful papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a big Cincinnati Red's fan and enjoyed winning at the slot machines. Fred is survived by his wife of 39 years, Eleanor Davis; daughters, Jenny (Fred) Minor of Middletown, OH, Shelly Davis of Stanwood, WA, Karlena McKenzie of Morrow, OH, Karen Redman of Orrville, OH; son, Barry Shockley of Lebanon, OH; grandchildren, Danielle Davis, Thomas Davis, Jake Davis, Jessica Harrison, Carrie Cornett, Leslie Kim, Meagan Ambacher, Hannah Gleckler; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Sally) Davis of Monroe, OH and first wife, Audrie Davis of Stanwood, WA. He was also greatly loved by other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Freddie Davis and Greg Shockley. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Jerry Minor officiating. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery.
