News Death Notice

EWING, Major L. was born on January 30, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a decorated retired veteran of the United States Army. He also retired from Polymark Corporation in Cincinnati OH. He was a member of the Elks Pure Gold, Lodge #591 and a member of Payne Chapel AME Church, where he was a faithful member, serving as a trustee. He was respected and admired by everyone he met. Major transitioned from this life on August 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Ewing; mother, Mary M. Brown; brothers, Robert Brown, Richard H. Preston; sisters, Joyce Ewing and Nadine Frazier. He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Marguerite Grant, Christina Smith, and Mary Lou (Henry) Scott; two brothers, James Ewing all of California and Thomas (Theresa) Manuel of Wisconsin. Five daughters Delores Spragans of Virginia, Veronica D'Abreau of Washington State, Georchia (Charles) Higgins, Michelle Henry, and Danielle Dogans, of Ohio; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Major's home going will be Saturday, August 9. The family will receive visitors at the church from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The ceremony will be at noon. The interment will be at the VA in Dayton on Monday, August 10 at 10 am. Green Hall Jordan memorial chapel.
