Family-Placed Obituary

HOLSTEIN, James H. Holstein Jim Holstein, 77, Bradenton, Florida, died Sunday, December 16, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2007, at Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fl. He is survived by his wife Deiane; brother Ron; sister Laverne Chapin; daughter Sue Schenkel; sons Bob and Jim; step children Cheryl and Kraig Shook and Rod Miller; 16 grand children and 5 great-grandchildren. Jim grew up in Hamilton, OH, graduating from Hamilton Bayden High School. He receive his education degree from the University of Cincinnati. While at UC, he played 4 years of Basketball and baseball, 1 year of football and track. After college, from 1952 to 1955, he played for the World Champion Minneapolis Laker professional basketball team and finished his basketball career with the Ft. Wayne Pistons in 1956. He also played minor league baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers organization in Quebec City, Canada. After his playing career, he spent 35 years in the high school and college teaching and coaching profession, most of that time coaching college basketball. At the college level, he coached at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN; Ball State University in Muncie, IN; and St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne, IN. He retired in 1991
