News Death Notice
ZETTLER, Marian L. age 88, of Hamilton, died Saturday April 2, 2011, at her home. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on August 10, 1922, to Arthur and Opal (Franz) Brandhoff. Marian attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from Hamilton High school in 1940. She married James R. Zettler on February 25, 1943, in Hamilton, Ohio. Along with her husband, she opened the Zettler Funeral Home in 1951. She was active in the operation of the funeral home for more than 50 years. Marian was an active member of St. Ann Church, where she was involved in the Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid bridge player and an excellent cook. Marian was a devoted wife to Jim for 68 years. Her greatest joy was spending time surrounded by her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight children: James R. (Anne) Zettler Jr., Karen (Richard) Bell, Nancy (Joseph) Morelli, Jack A. Zettler, Mary Lou (Greg) Hartman, Patti (Tony) Walker, Thomas G. (Christen) Zettler, and Connie (Jeffrey) Turner. She also is survived by 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Dorothy) Zettler. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Raymond Brandhoff, and a sister, Dorothy Schmidt. The family wishes to express our thanks to the doctors and caregivers for the loving and compassionate care they provided through our mothers extended illness. Prayers will be offered at 10:30am Wednesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Wednesday in St. Ann Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann Church or Hospice of Hamilton.
