News Death Notice
MARTIN, Gerald "Toes" age 78 of Cedar Grove, Indiana passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was born in Hamilton on July 16, 1933, the son of Hiram and Mae (Clark) Martin. Toes was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955 and retired as a supervisor from Champion International Paper after 41 years. He was a lifetime member of the Tri-State Rocky Mountain Horse Club, a Kentucky Colonel, and a founding member of Rocky Mountain Horse Association. On November 28, 1990, he married Shirley (nee Hollar) Ballard. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Martin; son, Gerald Mark (Joni) Martin; stepson, Jerry (Cindy) Ballard; stepdaughters, Angie (Larry) Cox, Cheryl Tye, and Sheila (Ric) Bowling; brother, Delbert (Mary) Martin of Hesperia, CA; grandsons, Joe and Kevin Martin, Adam (Alison), Jason and Jake Wall and Colton Jackson; granddaughters, Lauren (Josh) Lethig and Caitlin McDaniel; great grandchildren, Jasmine, Ava and Macie; and lifelong friend, Vernel Teague. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, David, Raymond, William, Virgil and Vernon Martin; and sisters, Ruth Benge and Yvonne Martin. Visitation will be 5-8pm, Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue. Funeral service will be at 10am, Friday, May 4, 2012, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, with Pastor Freddie Helton officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Margaret Mary Hospice of Batesville Indiana.
