BLANKENSHIP, Elmer Lee age 81, of Vero Beach, Florida formerly of Hamilton died Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Indian River Medical Center. He was born on November 23, 1931 in Middletown, Ohio the son of William and Lula (Borders) Blankenship. He has been a winter resident of Vero Beach, Florida beginning in 1993, moving there as a full time resident in 1999 from Hamilton, Ohio. He had worked for A.K. Steel in Middletown, Ohio prior to his retirement and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida and a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Geraldine E. (Miller) Blankenship of Vero Beach, Florida, sons Donald Blankenship (Tammy) of Liberty Township, Ohio, Joseph Blankenship of Cincinnati, Ohio Stephen Blankenship of Organia, Ohio, and John Blankenship of Hamilton, Ohio, daughters Mary Fischer (Dennis) of Liberty Township, Ohio, Barbara Anspach (Scott) of Trenton, Ohio and Joan Blankenship of Cincinnati, Ohio, sisters Ruth Whisman of Middletown, Ohio and Ethel Eckle of Carthage, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Eunice Peck and brothers Paul, Mitchell and Dorsie Blankenship. Prayers will be Wednesday February 6, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home 3950 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church with Fr. Mike Pucke, officiating.
