Betty Tilley Obituary

On January 3, 2013 we lost the heart of our family.
On February 27, 1936 Betty June was born to Bonnie and Forest Morgan Sr. Within a few years she would have a sister Christine (Tina) and a brother Forest Jr. (Son). The family moved to California and lived a short time on Harris Ranch. In 1952 they moved to Casa Grande, Arizona. Leonard said Betty was the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on and caused her embarrassment when he whistled at her in the classroom while she was introduced.
Betty and Leonard married on July 14, 1953 (both were just 17). Within a few days they began their lives as an Army family. She would enjoy traveling the world from Alaska and Florida to Germany. Making the most of each post she would learn as much as she could from all she met. The whole family would reap the rewards for years to come from Rouladen to Curry. Betty shared her knowledge in part by teaching many military children how to pour, fire and paint ceramics. As an Army wife Betty became very proficient at home repairs (you name it she could tear it apart and make it work again). She also went on to attend and graduate from Cosmetology School. Betty and Leonard shared fond memories of the service. Favorites were offering soldiers a taste of home by opening their doors throughout the year; especially at Christmas time.
Betty went on to have 6 children Bonita (Button), Michael (Mick), Leonard Jr., Ledeana, Joseph and Richard. In 1974 Betty became "Granny." She would be "Granny" to seventeen grandchildren. In 1991 she became a "Great Granny" which grew to fourteen and in 2012 she became a "Great-Great Granny" to two. Granny said family was not always born to us; holding some of those brought into her life closest to her heart.
Betty was a talented gal. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, ceramics, painting and traveling. Sewing was one of her favorites. She told us she never smoked because she couldn't see throwing away money she could buy fabric with and have a new outfit. Betty enjoyed weeks of driving cross country with Leonard and who could ever forget Granny's cooking.
She was greeted in heaven by Bonnie and Forest Morgan Sr., Tina Mendes, Son Morgan, Nolan Morgan, Michael Tilley, Lynn Tilley, Ledeana Tilley, Joe Tilley & Sean Phillips. Those waiting to be greeted by her are Leonard Tilley, Buttons and Larry Mc Abee, Richard Tilley and so many more.
On Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Two O'clock PM we will gather to share memories at "Granny's" 7740 20th Avenue, Lemoore (Island Dist.). All who knew her are encouraged to join us.

Not sure what to say?

Do not know why, however, I had you on my mind a couple of days ago & wishing I could talk to you once more. You made us feel so welcome in your home. You are probably teaching ceramics classes in heaven.

So many hearts are broken at the thought of losing you .. that just proves that you were very blessed and loved by many .. You taught me so much in the past five years about my mother, but also about having grace and courage. I know where you are, and I celebrate your going home. Thank you for the gifts - especially for Button, Larry, Liz, James and Courtney ... I love them. .. We'll take care of each other here until we join you at home.

Gram I miss you more than words can ever say. But you know that already as i talk to you everyday just like you told me to (just like you did with your mama) and you were right it does help to ease the heartache some.
