Delia Franco Bigelow passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 5, 2013 in Windsor, CA, at the age of 66. She is survived by 4 sons: Carlos Martinez of Visalia, Richard Martinez of Healdsburg, Dusk Bigelow of HI, and Rand Bigelow of WV, 1 daughter: Dawn Bigelow of AK, 1 brother: Salomon Franco, Jr. of Windsor, 3 sisters: Elida Guzman of Healdsburg, Yolanda Adams of Windsor and Grace Delao of Windsor, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Burl Bigelow, her son Edward Martinez, her parents Salomon and Ines Franco and her brother Samuel Franco.
Delia was born in Texas but raised in Geyserville, California. Delia moved to Lemoore with her husband Burl Bigelow, where they raised their children. Delia loved her job and spent thirty-five years as a director of senior nutrition for Tulare County and Kings County. She was well respected and loved by all her colleagues. She was well known in the community and loved by many, especially the senior citizens who she lovingly prepared meals for. Delia had a passion for cooking and was very fulfilled by helping seniors in her community. But nothing was a bigger passion for her then her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed spending numerous holidays and vacations with her extended family. Delia was enjoying her retirement spending time with family and catching up with friends. She will be remembered for her fun loving personality, her impeccable sense style, but most of all for her heart of gold.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel, 420 W D St. Lemoore, CA. A Vigil Rosary Service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church 870 N Lemoore Ave. Lemoore, CA with burial to follow at Lemoore Cemetery.
