Ermalinda "Linda" (Garcia) Mendes(1933 - 2014)

Ermalinda (Linda) Garcia Mendes, 80, of Arroyo Grande, California, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2014, at her home surrounded by members of her family.
She was born July 29, 1933, in Laton, California, the daughter of the late Reynaldo and Rafaela Garcia. She was the fifth child of nine siblings. On November 14, 1954 she married Manuel I. Mendes, of Hanford, who survives.
She graduated from Laton High School in 1953.
She was a housewife who always worked in and outside of the house. She was always involved in church activities. Most recently, she and her husband, Manuel, were greeters at New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach, CA.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Lynn and Mark Hopper of Hanford; son, Manuel (Bobby) Mendes of Fresno; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Gene O'Brien of Fresno; five grandchildren, Jacob Hopper, Zackary Hopper, Ashton Trout, Lyndsey Ames, Brianna Brawley; Eight great-grandchildren; surviving brothers Peter Garcia, Ray Garcia, Jesse Garcia, and Manuel Garcia; surviving sisters; Mary Huffman-Sawdey and Lupe Alcoser.
Linda was preceded in death by her brothers Nash and Jack.
A service will be held Saturday February 8, 2014 at New Life Community Church at 11:00 a.m. New Life Community Church is located at 990 James Way, Pismo Beach, CA.
