Edith Britton Obituary

Mrs. Edith Julia Britton was born January 6, 1919 in Hanford, CA to John Calvin and Mary Florence (Booker) Nicholson. Mrs. Britton passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91 on September 20, 2010.
Edith was the eldest of her four sisters who preceded her in death; Mrs. Maxine Hanley-Alves, Mrs. Muriel Toste, Miss Betty Jean Prescott and Mrs. Sadie Mora. On August 18, 1941, Edith married Raymond Albert Britton of Laton, CA. They settled on the family ranch where they raised three daughters; Nancy Lee Menezes of Montana , Kathleen Staten of Oregon and Janet Smith of Oregon. Edith and Ray were married for 56 years and after Ray's passing in May of 1997, Edith moved to Grants Pass, Oregon to be closer to her daughters. Edith is also survived by her six grandchildren; Joann Venturi, Alan Hamblin, David Staten, Clayden Staten, Christine Staten and Jeddiah Smith, as well as 6 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Britton on October 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton, CA. A special thank to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Hilderbrand for hosting a Remembrance Luncheon following the service.
