Edward Correia Obituary

Edward Gregory Correia, 89, passed away Friday, September 10th, 2010 at Hacienda Nursing Home in Hanford.

Edward was born on January 29, 1921 in Hanford, California, to John and Mary Correia. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and retired as Chief Petty Officer from the Navy. He was a member of VFW, Military Order of the Turtles and the American Legion. He married Lillian Giaquinto and were married for 40 years. Edward was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Edward is survived by his two sons, Robert and wife Eleanor Corraro, John and wife Jessie Giaquinto; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all of Massachusetts; one niece and two nephews all of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his dear friends, Bob and Betty Davis of Hanford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, son, Michael Corraro, grandson, Edward Corraro, brother and sister-in-law, John and Lena Correia.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford.
