Grace Mann Obituary

Grace Emma Mann, 76, was surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren during her passing on December 21, 2010 in Hanford, California. She was born on March 16, 1934 in Iowa to Sumner "Sam" and Sadie Moser. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Her immediate family, Robin, Don, Abby and Kyle, were blessed to have had her so close in their lives. Grace lived with Robin and her family for 16 years. The greatest gift her grandchildren received was having the chance to grow up with their grandmother so close. She too received the wonderful gift of having the unconditional love and support of Robin and her family.
Grace enjoyed many things in her life including her time as a Registered OB Nurse, knitting, reading, spending time with friends and family, playing cards, going to the movies, going out to eat and was faithful to her favorite television shows. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places. One of her favorite times of year was traveling back to Iowa in the summer to visit her family. She always said it was like "old times" each time she returned. She loved that they 'celebrated' Christmas in July.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Mathews, her son-in-law, Don Mathews, her grandchildren Abby and Kyle Mathews all of Hanford, California, her son, Jeff Mann of North Carolina, her friend, Juanita Mathews of Hanford, California and her friend, Pat Patten of Exeter, California and John Mann of Visalia, California. She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Kalina of Roodhouse, Ill., and brother, Henry "Hank" Moser of Guttenberg, Iowa.
A warm thank you goes out to Optimal Hospice Care caregivers, Jennifer and Elisia as well as Brittney Mathews, CNA and family member, who helped to make her final days peaceful. We also appreciate all the those family members that offered us such great support during our time of need through your thoughtful notes and phone calls. Furthermore, gratitude goes out to the staff of Valley Christian Homes for taking great care of her in the two years she resided with them.
No words can express the sorrow we will feel without her presence. But we know she has reached those pearly gates with her mother, father and siblings awaiting her joyous arrival. She will be in God's perfect embrace.
A memorial will be held in the home of Robin and Don Mathews on Thursday, December 30th at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, we'd ask that donations be made to Autism Speaks in Grace's name and her grandson, Kyle's name. You can do so by visiting autismspeaks.org.

Grandma Grace will forever be remembered with our family. What a blessing for her to be able to be surrounded by those who loved her the most in her final days, Don, Robin, Abby, Kyle, and Juanita. May she be dancing with the angels and watching over all of us.
