John Vinton Obituary

John C. Vinton, a resident of Coalinga passed away early September 15, in Fresno.

Mr. Vinton was born in Dilley, Texas and he and his family have been residents of the communities of Huron and Coalinga since 1952. Mr. Vinton worked for Giffin Farms and later Jim Lowe, Inc., and retired as a ranch foreman after many years of devoted service.

Mr. Vinton was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vinton and his son, James Robert Vinton. Also his parents, Jim and Dora Vinton, a brother, Julian Vinton, and two sisters, Maria Fernandez Sainz and Dora Vinton Reyes.

He is survived by his sister, Alicia Granados of Fresno and his children, Juan DeAnda of Dilley, Texas, Jose "Ronnie" Vinton of Coalinga, Velma and Gary Onstott of Visalia, Virginia and John Carnero of Huron, John and Blanca Vinton of Huron, Lorie and Tom Ginsburg of Hanford and Carol and Fred Hernandez of Riverdale. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, John/Melody Vinton of Houston, Texas, James/Danielle Vinton, of Houston, Texas, Matthew/Mary Onstott, Mark Onstott, Angel/Tiffany Carnero and Emily Carnero, Roxann/Anthony Chavarria, Kristen and Jaimy Vinton, KC/Nicolas Gonzales, Janessa and James Hernandez and also 12 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind many close friends, who were a part of his everyday life and could come to him in their time of need.

The Rosary will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Huron and the Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., on Sept. 23 at St. Francis Cabrini Church, with burial services following at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Coalinga.

To Tio Juan(as I knew him)growing up in Dilley, Texas with my grandparents: Eloy Vinton(Tio Juan's Uncle)and Irene Vinton(Eloy's wife). My mother, Ramona Vinton Castaneda, always remembered Tio Juan affectionately growing up in Dilley as first cousins. There are wonderful memories of Tio Juan in Texas roots. I will always remember Tio Juan's 85th birthday at Camp 30 on June 21, 2008, the hottest day, but had opportunity to share special moments and conversation with my Tio Juan. I love you, Tio Juan.
