A wonderful man passed into God's loving arms on April 7, 2013. For 92 years he shared his life with Jesus, his adored wife and family, as well as many friends. Marion Edwin Wilson, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born to Albert and Merle (Wood) Wilson on February 23, 1921 in Weidon, Iowa on a farm with his older brother Donovan. He was 6 years old when his father passed away and his mother left to attend college to earn her teaching credential in order to support her children. Marion and Donovan stayed with Grandpa and Grandma Wood during this time. Marion always credited Grandpa Wood with being the nicest, smartest, most honest man he ever knew and considered him his mentor in life.

He graduated from William Penn College in Iowa in 1942 and began his first teaching job in Prairie City, Iowa where he met and married the love of his life, Evangeline French. They shared 64 wonderful years together before her passing in 2008.
They moved to Lemoore, California's Island district in 1947 where he began a long, rewarding career as teacher, administrator, and coach at the Island School. During his 31 years at Island School his love for the kids filled his life with many happy memories. His competitive nature and strong work ethic motivated students to excel in academics and sports as well as adult life. His greatest enjoyment was seeing his former students return to visit him and share the wonderful memories of Island School days. After retiring in 1978, he and Evangeline spent the next 12 years leading a tutoring program for small children at Tachi Indian Reservation.
He loved the Lord and enjoyed many years serving Him as a Sunday School teacher and church deacon. He instilled his Christian values in his family and with those whose lives he touched. His many years of community involvement were rewarding to him which included coaching Little League and Babe Ruth, serving on the Lemoore High School board of trustees, Lemoore Kiwanis Club, Island 4-H club, and Kings County Jr. Olympics where he was able to continue having a positive influence on children. As he served his community, his legacy of "always making decisions in the best interest of the kids" will always be remembered by those who knew him well.
Marion never knew a stranger and made many close friends as he and Evangeline traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Canada in their retirement years. With his love for sports he could always be found at all the Lemoore High School sporting events to watch generations of children from his former students participate.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Bob (Jacque) Wilson and their children Sarah, Matthew (Shara) and their son Luke; Janet (Jerry) Long and their children, Lynnsey (Justin) Daniel, Allison (Aaron) Rubesh and their children Gracyn and Landyn, Jerry Long Jr and his son Dalton; Rick (Carol) Wilson and their children Alexandra and Peter along with many loved family members throughout the Midwest.
