Mary Rodrigues Obituary
Mary was born in Riverdale, Calif. on April 28, 1913 at the family home of her parents Manuel V. & Genevieve Rodrigues. She attended Riverdale schools. When her father passed, she stayed home to help her brothers, John & Frank with the chores on the family dairy farm. She milked cows, picked cotton, baled hay alongside her brothers. She loved gardening and grew many vegetable and fruits for the family. She helped her mother cook the meals and do laundry. When her mother became bedridden, she was her mother's sole caregiver, until her mother passed away in 1984.
Mary enjoyed her gardening and flowers and truly had a green thumb. She was always very excited about attending her S.P.R.S.1. meetings in Riverdale as it gave her an opportunity to see and visit with her friends. She was a quiet person, but always had a beautiful smile to greet a friend, family member or even a stranger. After breaking a hip, she went to live at Valley Christian Home and later Kings Nursing & Rehab in Hanford, Calif. She really enjoyed making new friends and participated in exercise classes, bingo games, trips to the park, mall and Tachi Palace with her friends.
Mary was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Riverdale all her life. She loved her religion, her friends & especially her family, which was so precious to her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel V. & Geneieve Rodrigues, her three brothers, Lionel, Frank, John and sister¬in-law, Mary A. Rodrigues.
Mary is survived by nieces, Godchild Geraldine Machado & husband Marvin of Tulare, Marlene Raven & husband Bill of Armona, Linda Smith and husband Michael of Riverdale, Evalena Garcia and husband Raymond of Lemoore, Kathleen Howard and husband Perry of Lemoore, and nephews, Leonard Rodrigues and wife Yvonne of Manteca, Jimmy Rodrigues and wife, Kathleen of Visalia, and Franky Rodrigues and Emily of Fresno.
Viewing will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Thursday, December 30 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton. Funeral arrangements by Whitehurst-McNamara.
