Rosie Dufur Castadio, wife, mother, and Amache, was born on November 03, 1930 in Stratford, California to Spanish-Basque immigrants, Crisostomo and Francisca Dufur. Our dear Lord took her back home to his heavenly kingdom in the early morning hours of Friday, August 23, 2013 at the age of 82.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was raised on a ranch in Stratford, California with her loving family. Rosie attended Stratford Elementary School and graduated from Lemoore High School in 1948 where she was a majorette.
Rosie married Edwin Castadio on August 22, 1953 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage before Ed's death in September 2008. Rosie & Ed were blessed with one beloved son, Brian Scott Castadio in October 1959. She was a wonderful mother.
Rosie was a bank teller at Crocker-Anglo Bank in Lemoore for many years. She enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. Her lifelong friends were very important to her and they all enjoyed living life to its fullest whether at the Lemoore Jet Bowl watching their husbands race or summers in Felton, California.
She was a devoted member of St Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peter's Altar Society and M.I.Q. Mother's Club. Rosie was also a member of The Fresno Basque Club.
Rosie was always a great cook and baker. During cotton picking season, she was known to bring full meals out to Ed, Brian and the crew, which she was very proud of.
The highlight of her life were her four grandchildren. She loved attending their numerous sporting events. And looked forward to caring for them after school when they were young. She was able to attend her granddaughters wedding last October. And even in ill health was able to sing hymns and recite the prayers. Rosie's family and friends were blessed with witnessing the gift of true love that Rosie always conveyed with a hug and a kiss each time she greeted them.
Rosie is survived by her loving son Brian (Jeanne) Castadio, grandchildren, Kelley (Mike) Dow, Ryan Castadio, Christopher Castadio, and Kevin Castadio, all of Lemoore. Her sister, Gloria (Donald) Dostinich, a sister-in-law, Lucille Dufur, a brother-in-law, Deane Villa and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
We would like to thank all of her caretakers over that past ten years and also the staff of Easy Living Care Home for their caring of her in the last two months of her life. It is truly appreciated.
