Hanford native Gerald J. Theadore passed from the arms of his family into the arms of the Lord on May 15, 2014 at Kaweah Delta Hospital, Visalia, CA.
The Guest Book is expired.
Gerald was born to Gilbert and Alice (Souza) Theadore on June 25, 1937, in Hanford, CA and was raised in the Grangeville area, attending Pioneer Elementary school, where he met his future wife, Justine (Judy) Rose.
After graduating from Hanford High School in 1955, he served in the US Army and then in the Army Reserves until 1962. He married the love of his life, Justine Rose in 1960, and then attended and graduated from the College of the Sequoias and Fresno State College soon thereafter.
Gerald was an Educator and Farmer. As an educator he was a teacher, football coach, and administrator at Hanford High School. Gerald retired but never lost his love for his former students and continued to enjoy the contacts he had with them and their families until the very end.
He learned to farm with his father and his father-in-law and did so even while teaching. He instilled that love of farming into both his son and daughter. Farming buddies and Ag. associations remained very important throughout his life.
He served as an Armona School Board member for several terms as well as on the Kings Co. Ag Advisory Board. Gerald was a 4-H leader, member, and supporter of many local organizations and charities.
An important part of his life was his family. He always looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially their traditional summer vacations at the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Justine (Judy) Theadore. His daughter Maria Chastain, Weatherford Texas, his son Mark Manuel Theadore, Hanford, CA, Brother Ross (Jan) Theadore, Steamboat Springs, CO, three grandchildren Ryan Prater, Austin TX, Claire Larvin and Kara Larvin, Weatherford TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Alice Theadore; brother Bobby Theadore; in-laws Manuel G. and Isabel Rose; and sister-in-law Shirley Rose Brown.
As a Catholic his services will be a Rosary & Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m on Friday May 23, 2014.
