Alvin Joseph Oliveira, 69, of Lemoore passed away at St. Agnes Medical Center Sunday, May 25, 2014. Alvin was born on July 11, 1944 to AP and Virginia Oliveira in Hanford, CA. Alvin was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Lemoore High School in 1962 and served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. After returning home he farmed locally, worked at C&S Distributing, and started his own yard maintenance service. For the past 39 years Alvin has battled with various health-related issues. In 1991 he received a heart transplant at Stanford Medical Center and is the 2nd longest surviving recipient of a heart transplant from Stanford. Alvin will always be remembered for his devotion to his grandchildren and his absolute love of all animals, especially his large family of pets.

He was preceded in death by brothers; Anthony and John Oliveira, a sister; Mary Trigueiro, and a son; Stephen Martin. Alvin is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 40 years; children Jamie (Sarah) Oliveira, Thomas and Kristin Martin, and grandchildren Logan, Emmie, and Livie, 1 brother; William (Margaret) Oliveira, 4 sisters; Virginia Soares, Velma Coelho, Lena Bettencourt and Nancy Rocha. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a plethora of cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with interment following in Lemoore Cemetery.
