John Correia was born on August 27, 1927, to Anton and Frances Correia and passed away at the age of 81 on June 6, 2009. John married the lovely Angelina Dolores Banevedes on June 11, 1949 and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.

Johnny, as he was known, was easygoing and always had a smile for everyone. He and Dee (Dolores) lived and raised their family in the Kings County area. Johnny worked in agriculture and liked being outdoors. Games of cards with family and friends were one of his favorite ways to visit with loved ones and relax. During his retirement years, Johnny loved to travel to Oregon with Dee, where he fished and enjoyed the scenery while visiting with family. He looked forward to the holidays as he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all gathered together - not to mention that Dee would let him sneak in a few extra sweets! One of his favorite treats in recent years was a Chalupa, and he would often hit Dee up for one while they were on their outings. Those who knew Johnny best will always remember the ever-present twinkle in his eye, his low chuckles of amusement, and his cat-like grin - there even in the face of adversity. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one son Arthur; four brothers, Tony, Joaquin, Arnold, and Frank Correia; and three sisters, Mary Box, Frances Toste, and Gertrude Silva. He is survived by his wife, Angelina Dolores; four sons, John Michael Correia (Kristie), Clarence (wife Janet), Eugene (wife Sandy); two daughters, Olinda Dias (husband Manuel) and Gloria Correia, two sisters, Dolores Amarantes and Lina Mendes; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is further survived be many nephews, nieces, and a great many friends.
