Ted Duyst was born at the family home in Laton, California on April 9, 1937 the fifth child to Albert and Amelia Kelsey Duyst. Ted passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in Hanford, California, he was 75.

He graduated from Hanford Christian School with the honor of Class Valedictorian. He then graduated from Laton High School in 1955. He later completed C.O.S. and achieved a BS from Fresno State University. He enjoyed a school environment. He also was happy to participate in sports and enjoyed watching all sports on T.V.
Despite his physical limitations he had a strong desire to learn and be productive. He worked at numerous vocations, including being an aide in an elementary school. He was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church. He was active in Youth Group, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Throughout his life's physical struggles he remained strong in his faith and his love for Jesus Christ.
Ted is survived by his loving brothers and sisters; Albert Duyst of Hanford, Peter Duyst of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bob Duyst of Fresno, Grace Vander Moren of Hanford, and Ruth Stryd of Hanford. Ted is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Emily Akpem.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery; 19811 S. Cedar Avenue, Laton, CA 93242 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church; 2175 Leoni Drive, Hanford, CA 93230.
