Bobby Manuel

BENHAM — Bobby L. Manuel, 76, of Benham, KY, peacefully entered into the Kingdom of Heaven with family by his side in the early morning hours of Friday, April 4, 2014, following a brief illness.

Bobby was born December 22, 1937 in Crab Orchard, KY to the late Marjorie and Joe Manuel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clark Manuel.

Bobby was a talented man. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, and spent many years painting beautiful pictures. But perhaps his greatest gift was a gift of service. He graduated embalming school in 1959 and was licensed in 1961. He served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He then found his calling in life to serve the people of his community as funeral director at Tri City Funeral Home. He provided kind, compassionate, professional service for over 50 years. He has touched the hearts of many families and always went above and beyond what was needed to make sure that their needs were met. He was a member of the Gilliam's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and a 32nd degree Mason.

Pap, as he was fondly called by family and friends was a kind and tenderhearted man who loved his family more than life. He especially loved his wife of 49 years, Hazel. The day of his illness, he was heard saying that it was "love at first sight" for him. Throughout their life they have shared many treasured memories.

In addition to his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing his children: Rick Gaines, Cumberland, KY; Theresa (Mike) Hatfield, Harlan, KY; George (Kim) Barley, Corbin, KY; Eric (Robin) Manuel, Morristown, TN; Chip (Kim) Manuel, Richmond, Ky. Grandchildren: Krissy (Terry) Delaney, Harlan, KY; Bitha (Matt) Stacy, Corbin, KY; Rikki (Joe) Cornett, Cumberland, KY; Morgan Barley, Corbin, KY; Hillary Manuel, Crab Orchard, KY; Deke (Abby) Barley, Corbin, KY; Alec Manuel, Lexington, KY; Erin Manuel, Richmond, KY; Deklyn and Addison Manuel, Morristown, Tn. Sisters: Ernestine (John) Raptosh, Dayton, Oh; Norma Jean Wallin, Cincinnati, Oh; and a brother, Billy Joe Manuel, Cincinnati, Oh; as well as a host of additional family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Tri-City Funeral Home in Benham, KY. Family will gather at 5 pm and will welcome friends from 6-9 pm. Rev. Rod Raleigh and Rev.
