RIO VISTA — Gary L. Saylor, 67, Rio Vista went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Continued Unit of the Baptist Regional Medical Center, in Corbin. Born August 6, 1946 in Harlan County, he worked as a salesman for McCombs Supply Co. in Harlan for many years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran as Sgt. of Communication. Gary was a member of the Pine Flat Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Gideons International.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ester Saylor and Nora Hoskins Saylor; two brothers, Gene Gambel and Elmer Gambrel; one sister, Geneva Hulen; and his father-in-law, Clarence White.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Burnette Saylor, Rio Vista; four children, Heather Dale Goins and husband Brandon, Gray, TN; Samantha Suzanne Ball and husband Billy, Wallins; Andrea Cunningham and Amy Cunningham both of Illinois; four brothers, Ester Saylor, Jr. and wife Shirley Ann, Demonte, IN; Don Saylor, Florida; Hershel Gambrel and wife Jeanette, Indiana and Norman Gambrel and wife Wilma, Indiana; two sisters, Marilyn Felts and husband Tom, Corbin; and Ann Moore, Corbin.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Leah Ball, Elizabeth Ball, Laura Ball, Trey Ball Heath Ball, Adam Goins, Andrew Cunningham, Kayla Mayberry, Joshua Johnson and Nicholas Judge; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Mayberry and Tia Mayberry; three special friends, Freddy Hensley, Elmer Reynolds and Danny Stines; Mother-in-law, Mary Katherine White, Rio Vista and sister-in-law, Beverly White, Rio Vista; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Gary's life will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Craig, Jr. and Reverend Cecil Hensley officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with Military Rites by the Harlan Honor Guard. The Honor Guard will also serve as pallbearers.
