CUMBERLAND — Jimmy Dale Shepherd, Sr., age 69 of Cumberland, KY, passed away following a terminal illness @ 7:30 am on Wednesday, June 04, 2014, at his home with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Harlan County, KY on June 27, 1944 to the late Leonard Sr. and Maggie Helton Shepherd. Jimmy served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and returned as a decorated soldier. He believed in the Old Regular Baptist faith and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Marion Rudolph Shepherd, Howard Glen Shepherd, Sara Shepherd Boggs and her husband, Jimmy (Red) Boggs, Raymond Darrell Shepherd, and brother-in-law, Sonny Camacho.

He loved spending time with his family and is survived by his wife, Linda Raleigh Shepherd; children, Neta and John (Rob) Collier and their children, Peyton and Chase, of Perkasie, PA, Catina and Matthew Duckworth and their children, Andrew, Kayle and Joshua, of Cumberland, and Jimmy (Buddy) and Catherine Shepherd and their children, Breanna and Jimmy, of Cumberland; sister, Bernice Shepherd Camacho; brother, Leonard Shepherd, Jr. and his wife, Angela Creech Shepherd; sister-in-laws, Margret Philps Shepherd and Juanita Slone Shepherd; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home at 506 Holly Street, Benham, KY on Friday, June 06, 2014, between 5 – 8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, June 07, 2014, at 4:30 pm with Charles Shepherd officiating. Interment will be in the DL Creech Cemetery in Blair, KY with military rites observed at graveside.

Pallbearers are Leonard Edward (LE), Jimmy, Mark, Zack, Luke, Red Boggs and Richard Harris.
