CUMBERLAND — Joanne "Jo" Hogue, age 86, entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, after a long illness with Alzheimer's.

Jo was born January 16, 1927 in Lynch, KY, where she lived her early years before moving to Cumberland. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School. Jo met Loyal R. "Buddy" Hogue, her loving husband of 65 years, at Berea College, and after graduating, they completed the MBA program together at Indiana University. She was a retired Professor of Business and Office Administration from Southeast Community College, Cumberland, KY. Jo was a long-time member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, and arranging flowers for the church.

Jo was the daughter of the late Paul and Nan Amos Bridges. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Murris Wilder.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Wilder, Cumberland; her husband, Buddy, 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren - daughter Ann (Daniel) Midkiff, Benham, KY and their children Paul (Julie) Midkiff, Asheville, NC, Scott (Lori) Midkiff, Versailles, KY, and Charlie Midkiff (partner, Larry Michael Green) Berea, KY; daughter Alyson (Greg) Bowen, Willisburg, KY, and their children Matthew (Katie) Bowen, Lexington, KY, Daniel Bowen (fiance` Ali Hobbs, Cincinnati), Waterloo, IA, and Whitney Bowen, Willisburg; son Scott (Tammy) Hogue, Richmond, KY, and their children Kelli (Alex) Combs, Lexington, and Steven Hogue, Richmond; son Chris (Dana) Hogue, Cumberland, and their children Brooks (Caroline) Hogue, Johnson City, TN, Kyle Hogue, Lexington, Lauren Hogue and Caleb Hogue, Cumberland;. great grandchildren, Andrew Midkiff and Grady Midkiff, Asheville, NC, and Madelyn Midkiff and Emma Midkiff, Versailles. She is also survived by her nephew Jeff (Shannon) Wilder, and children Jonathon and Anna (Brady and daughter Lydia), Cumberland, and her niece Brooke (Dan) Ina and children Tori and Abby, Lake Mary, FL.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2013, from 6-9 p.m. at Cumberland United Methodist Church in Cumberland, KY. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Greg Bowen and the Rev. Jody Vansickle officiating. Burial will follow at the Monte Vista Cemetery, Cumberland, KY with family members serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jo are suggested to the Cumberland United Methodist Church.
