Anna Roberta Smith, 81, of Cotes, left for her Heavenly home on Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital surrounded by her family. Born April 2, 1932 in Harlan County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Ages Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Thompson Smith; her father, the Reverend Robert Smith; her sister, Geralene Robbins; a half-sister, Lorene Stevenson; three brothers, Robert F. Smith, Jr., Billy Lee Smith and George Smith; a niece, Belinda Robbins; and a nephew, Rick Parks.
Left to mourn is one sister, Eleanor McKnight, Barbourville. Although she had no children of her own, Aunt Bert was a mother to many; nieces and nephews, Lora (Paul) Botts, Evarts; Shirlyn (Bill) Bush, Cotes; Clifford (Gloria) Robbins, Jr., Kenvir; Susan Hill, Diane Cloud, Penny Bingham and Earlene McKiddy, all of Barbourville; great-nieces and nephews, Tonya (Jason) Cornett, Evarts; Tammy (Roger) McKnight, Holmes Mill; Dreama (Harold) Neeley, Lexington; Berry D. (Renae) Jones, Ages; great-great-nieces and nephews, Alyssa Cornett, Evarts; Bre-Anna (Kris) Curtis, Ages; Elizabeth McKnight, Holmes Mill; Paul C. Botts, Evarts; William Botts (fiancé, Heather), Evarts; George R. Cottrell, Georgetown; Jaylen J. Cottrell, Evarts; Cameron Cornett, Evarts; Hobert Cornett, Evarts; Jared McKnight, Holmes Mill; Roger W. McKnight, Cotes; Dustin Jones, Ages; Clifton Robbins, Holmes Mill; great-great-great-nieces and nephews, Gracie Cornett, Jacelynn Botts, Mylee Helton, Logan McKnight, Conner Stanton and Michael Ray Lunsford; and a special brother-in-law, Clifford Robbins, Sr., Holmes Mill.
Visitation will be held at the Ages Baptist Church after 5 pm Thursday and anytime Friday.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 1 pm at the Ages Baptist Church with the Reverend Jim Burkhart and the Reverend Tim Goshen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jaylen Cottrell, George Cottrell, Berry D. Jones, William Botts, Paul Botts and Roger McKnight.
