EVARTS — Billie Jean Bennett, 56, of Evarts, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. Born May 14, 1957 in Leslie County, she had lived here most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Beginning Church of God at Coxton where she served as a Ladies' Aide.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Harris and Stacey Hendrix Harris; a sister, Brenda Harris; and two brothers, Leroy and Bennie Harris.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Bennett, Evarts; three children, Angela Taylor and husband, Randy, Harlan; Kimberly Bennett, Evarts; Vernon Michael Bennett and wife, Chrystal, River Ridge; four sisters, Maxine Harris, Harlan; Loretta Blevins and husband, Henry, Evarts; Patricia Howard and husband, Mike, Indiana; and Mary Patrick, Salyersville, KY. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Montana and Tiffany Taylor; Corey, Tyler and Laceianne Risner; Michael Jones; and Gabriella Bennett; a special friend, Mildred Fisher; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 27, 2014, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Kinney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Her grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
