Mrs. Clora Clark Turner was born in Harlan, Kentucky on February 18, 1929 to Hayes and Easter Clark, who preceded her in death. She departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elder James L. "Jake" Turner; three children, Lonnie R. Turner, James L. Turner, Jr., and Donnie L. Turner; five sisters, Eliza Edwards, Nellie Gray, Hannah Clark, Edna Clark and Easter B. Clark; and four brothers, William Frank Mason, Albert Mason, Daniel Mason and Jess Mason.
Clora accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of the Clover Street Church of Christ for well over 60 years. She attended school in Crummies, KY and was a housewife and homemaker until she began working as a caregiver.
Clora loved cooking and baking, canning and freezing and would feed anyone who stopped by for a visit. Other hobbies included gardening and "green pickin" with whomever she could persuade to go with her.
Clora leaves to cherish her memory, six children: Michael (Brenda) Turner, Cleveland, OH; Robert (Sandra) Turner, Raleigh, NC; Curtis (Joann) Turner, Acworth, GA; Terry (Gwen) Turner; Teresa (Gerald) Henry; and Janet Marie Turner, all of Harlan, KY; 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also "mother" to Carol Barker, Cheryl Wilson, Anthony McKinley and Duane McKinley.
Also surviving are four special sisters-in-law and best friends: Alice Mason; Dorothy Mason; Hazel Menser and Anne Brantley; and special friends, including Nancy Johnson, Lue Carson and Nancy "Toot" Turner; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clora mothered many more in her family and community and was affectionately known as "Momma Clora", "Auntie" and "Granny".
She will be missed by her family, her church family, and many, many others she considered her extended family, including Marie Carson, Deborah Turner and Michelle McCrary.
Visitation for Clora will be on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Harlan Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bishop Thomas C. Wallace presiding.
Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY.
