AGES — Mr. David Wayne Lewis, 65, of Ages, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born February 28, 1948 in Harlan County and had lived here all of his life. David chose a career in education early in life and had enjoyed 27 years serving as teacher, principal and instructional supervisor with the Harlan County Board of Education. He was a member of the Yocum Masonic Lodge 897, a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a former Jaycee.

In his walk with Christ, David joined fellowship with Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, was a Gideon International and served as Director of Reformers Unanimous, a ministry that he loved dearly.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Green and Veda Crider Lewis; and a brother, Harvey Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Terri Lewis, of Ages; two sons, David and wife Angie, of London; Harvey and wife Amy, of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Madi, Riley, Ivy and Sophi; two brothers, Curt and Diane Lewis; and, Green and June Lewis, all of Rockford, IL; two sisters, Brenda Rapier, of Ages; and Daisy Reese, of Rockford, IL; five sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis; Starr and Suresh Shridharani; Reba and Jim Wheeler; Sheri and Mike Beavers; Pernie and Terry Kirk; a brother-in-law, Clay and Diana Thomas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and brothers and sisters in Christ.

David was a special man who dedicated his life to Christ and his family.

Visitation will be after 5 pm Friday, January 10, at Immanuel Baptist Church at Elcomb. Masonic Rites will be performed at 5 pm Friday evening at the church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Saturday, January 11, at the church with Pastor Arnold Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
