CUMBERLAND — Herbert Creech, 82, of Cumberland passed from this life on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Tri Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Herbert was born June 30, 1931 to the late John L. and Fannie Blair Creech. He was a member of the Cumberland Lions Club, (where he enjoyed his membership and the many friends he made there) and the First Christian Church, he was the former manager of Creech lumber and hardware in Cumberland for many years. After his graduation from high school he earned a Bachelor degree in music from the University of Kentucky.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by a son Thomas Dean Creech, brothers J.V. Creech, sister-in-law Mary Faye Creech, and a nephew Johnny Creech.

Herbert is survived by his loving wife Thelma Mattox Creech, of Cumberland; his children Elaine Creech Hewitt, of Lansing, Michigan, Benjamin Creech and wife Kristi of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Lacye Holbrook and husband Wes, and Karrah Dixon; nieces and nephews Terry Creech and wife Gwen, Sherry Jackson and husband Ted, Crystal Hill and husband Jaime, and Veronica Boggs and husband Anthony, and a host of great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

The family will receive family and friends in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the First Christian Church in Cumberland, KY with Pastor Robert Warren officiating. Following the funeral services burial will be held in the Huff Cemetery in Cumberland. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the First Christian Church or the Cumberland Lions Club.
