LOYALL — Kenneth D. Blanton, 73, of Loyall, passed from this life Thursday, February 6, 2014 following a long illness. Born April 1, 1940 in Wallins Creek, Kenneth had lived here most of his life. He was a former driver for Purity Bread and was a retired self-employed heating and air conditioning technician. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Army as well as a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lotheda Martin and George Blanton; a daughter, Brenda Renee Blanton; and a sister, Selma Sue Shoemaker.
Survivors include 10 children: Kenneth Blanton of California; Charlene Rogers of Indiana; Irene Blanton of California; Robert Blanton of California; Michael Blanton of Michigan; Brian Blanton of North Carolina; Terry Blanton of Virginia; Kimberly Shipman of Wallins; Crystal Blanton of Evarts; and Jessica Blanton of Coldiron; two brothers, Hershel Blanton of London; and Ed Carmack of Wallins; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Friday evening at Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday at the Harlan Funeral Home with the Reverend Eli Craig officiating.
Burial will follow at the New Creech Cemetery at Wallins with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Military Rites will be presented by the Harlan Honor Guard.
