BEAN STATION, Tenn. — Lelia Frances Jackson Johnson, age 84 of Bean Station, TN and formerly of Benham and Cumberland, KY, passed away at the Hamblen – Morristown Hospital in Morristown, TN after a short illness.

Lelia, a widow at her passing, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "George" Johnson; father, Charlie Jackson; mother, Betty Mae Scalf Jackson; and an infant brother, Raymond B. Jackson.

Lelia is survived by her six children and their spouses, to wit: Ronnie Johnson and wife, Linda Schosser Johnson, of Cumberland, KY; Victoria Johnson Huntley and husband, Roger Wayne Huntley, of Quincy, IL; George Raymond "Rainbo" Johnson and wife, Karen Cope Johnson, of Cumberland, KY; Janice Lynn Johnson Harris and husband, Robert Lawrence Harris, of Athens, TN; Deborah Kay Johnson Miller and husband, Daniel John Miller III, of Davidson, NC; and Gary Johnson of Bean Station, TN.

Lelia also left nine grandchildren and their spouses, to wit: Stephanie "Denise" Huntley Embree and husband, Kent Allan Embree, of Quincy, IL; Amy Ruth Johnson Webb and husband, David Eugene Webb, of Roanoke, VA; Bradley Ryan Harris and wife, Ama Jayne Bryson Harris of Athens, TN; Wesley Alan Harris and wife, Laura Ellen Hamm Harris, of Winchester, KY; Thomas Clark Johnson and wife, Mary Rebecca Wagner Johnson, of Lexington, KY; Kristen Tara Johnson Simpson and husband, John Henry Lee Simpson, of Benham, KY; Robbie Crit Johnson of Benham, KY; Daniel John Miller IV and wife, Alexandra Sitova, of Davidson, NC; and Katherine Frances Miller of Davidson, NC.

Lelia was survived by four step grandchildren and their spouses, to wit: Matthew Cope of Cumberland, KY; Kristen Cope McClain and husband, Gary McClain, of Cumberland, KY; Kevin Cope and wife, Erin Kelly Cope, of Richmond, KY; and Kelsey Cope of Cumberland, KY.

At her death, she also left nine great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren surviving.

Lelia was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Morristown, TN and raised and instructed her children on strong christian principles and with a determined sense of right and wrong. She was fearlessly protective and proud of her children.

Lelia was an accomplished seamstress, a talented crafts person, and a fashion retailer.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home, 506 Holly Street, Benham, KY, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, between 12 – 2 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 2 pm with the Benham United Methodist Church Pastor, Jody Vansickle, officiating. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
