BAXTER — Reverend Larry E. Parker, 60, of Baxter, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard following a short illness. He was born July 2, 1953 in Harlan County to the late Arthur Parker and the late Sue Witt Parker Gilbert. Larry graduated from Evarts High School and the Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. He was a member of the Yocum Creek Baptist Church where he was the pastor until his illness. He had been the pastor at various churches throughout the county and had dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He also worked in the past as a coal miner.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda Walters Parker, Baxter; two children, Jennifer Parker Jeffers and husband, Mike, Loyall; Justin Parker and wife, Samantha, Putney; two grandsons, Dillon and Deric Jeffers, Loyall; two sisters, Linda Evans and husband, Don, Evarts; Vickie Middleton, Lexington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Justin Parker officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 9 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
