KITTS — Avery Helton, 82 of Kitts passed away Saturday May 17, 2014 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Avery was born April 23, 1932 to the late Hiram H. and Maggie Irene Farley Helton. He served his country during the Korean War as a Veteran of the United States Marines.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Nathanial "Trap", Lawrence, Hobart, Cleve, Elijah, and Charles; his sister, Gladys; his sister-in-law, Edna G. Helton.

He is survived by his brothers, Howard Helton of Rio Vista and Kenneth L. Helton of Stockton, CA; he leaves several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including the staff at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be Wednesday (May 21) from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Carmical officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with the Harlan Honor Guard providing Military Rites.
