Alice Mae Savage Laun, age 72, of Baxter, KY died September 17, 2013 at her home following a long illness. She was born April 20, 1941 in Salem, IA, to the late Samuel B. and Evelyn Bell Savage. She had a bachelor's degree in nursing and was a retired nursing instructor with Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Baxter, KY.
Alice was saved at the age of 16 where she was called to work for the Lord in the mountains of Kentucky. She taught at the Harlan Nursing School until it closed. She taught for one year in Kenya and was very active in the Health Occupation Students of America. She was Medical Director with the American Red Cross for several years.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, George D. Laun of Baxter, KY; daughters: Paula Johnson and husband, Brent, of Baxter, KY and Wendy Goodrum and husband, Jeremy, of Louisville, KY; son, David Laun, and wife, April, of Corbin, KY; grandchildren: Allison Johnson, Emerson Johnson, Hannah Goodrum, Caleb Goodrum, Michael Laun, and Matthew Laun; she is also survived by 19 brothers and sisters, a host of nieces and nephews, and several brothers and sisters in law.
Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2013 from 5 to 8PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11AM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Larry Abbott officiating. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Rosspoint, KY with family serving as pallbearers.
