BOWLING GREEN — Lawrence Gross, 73, of Bowling Green, KY, formerly of Pineville and Bledsoe, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, at his residence. Born September 4, 1940 in Saylor, Ky, he was a U.S. Army veteran with 10 years of service. He was also a retired basketball coach for Greenhill Elementary School and Pineville City Schools and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Anna Marie Moore Gross; his parents, Grant Gross and Susie Belcher Whitehead; and one son, James Kelly Gross.

He is survived by seven children, Larry Gross and wife Leta, Bowling Green; Lisa Asher and husband Eugene, Speedwell, TN; Bryce Simpson and wife Teri; Floyd Simpson, Dallas Simpson, Teresa Bingham and husband Keith, and Theodore Simpson, all of Pineville; two brothers, Boyd Gross and wife Elaine and Steve Whitehead, both of Michigan; three sisters, Nancy McClain and husband Tom, Bowling Green; Melissa Retan and husband Bill, Cummins, GA; and Allene Allen, Paris, TN.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mill Branch Church of God, 1084 E. Hwy. 221 Bledsoe, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the church with the Reverend Keith Bingham officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery, Bledsoe, KY.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
