Phyllis Townsend Obituary

ANDERSON – Phyllis Jean Townsend, 86, of Anderson, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Community Hospital, Anderson.

She was born on April 6, 1926, in Frankton, and resided most of her life in Anderson.

She retired from General Motors.

Phyllis was devoted to spending time with her son's family. Her grandchildren fondly called her "Nana".

She enjoyed cooking and was known for her homemade noodles.

She is survived by her son, Doug (wife, Valerie) Townsend, of Anderson; grandchildren, Ashley Townsend, of Anderson, and Adam (fiancé, Sammy Bell) Townsend, of Anderson; brother, Tom Wardwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Townsend, step-sons, Earl D. Townsend and George Townsend, and her mother, Grace (Merritt) Wardwell.

The family wishes to thank Community Northview, Edgewater Woods and the staff at Community Hospital.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.

Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Cliff Richardson officiating.

Burial will take place in the I.O.O.F Cemetery, Hartford City.
