MONTPELIER – Ardith E. Tarr, 93, of Montpelier, passed away at 9:34 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Marion General Hospital.
She was born on Sunday, Aug. 29, 1920, in Hartford City.
Ardith was a 1938 graduate of Hartford City High School.
She married Jesse "Bill" Tarr on Thursday, July 25, 1946, in Monticello.
She attended Southern Wells Community Church and was a member of Women of the Moose
. She also was a member of Hartford City American Legion Auxiliary Post #159.
Ardith previously worked at Montpelier Pizza King for 11 1/2 years and Paradise Point for three years.
Survivors include five sons, Oliver (wife, Mary) Furniss, of Muncie, Bill (friend, Georgeann) Tarr, of Peru, Ted (wife, Linda) Tarr, of Hartford City, Larry (wife, Karen) Tarr, of Montpelier, and Randy Tarr, of Montpelier; two daughters, Linda (husband, Gary) Flatter, of Hartford City, and Joyce (husband, Fred) Ball, of Montpelier; two brothers, Jim (wife, Janet) Sutton, of Hartford City, and John (wife, Betty) Sutton, of Roll; two sisters, Marcella Campbell, of Marion, and Judy (husband, Phil) Cox, of Gas City; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse "Bill" Tarr, of Montpelier, her father, Hobart Sutton, her mother, Elsie (Stoner) Sutton, two sons, Allen Wolston and infant Eddie Tarr, two brothers, Hobart Sutton and Joe Sutton, two sisters, Janet Riddle and Vonna Jean Walker, and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Tarr.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, from 1 to 7 p.m.
A service to celebrate Ardith's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, with Pastor Adam Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.
