Donald Ray "Don" McConey

HARTFORD CITY – Donald "Don" Ray McConey, 86, of Hart-ford City, passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at University Nursing Center, Upland.

He was born in Hartford City on December 6, 1926, to the late Ray McConey and the late Bertha (Fuller) Andris.

Don graduated from Hartford City High School in 1945 and from MRI National Radio Institute in 1948. He served in the United States Army as a mechanical engineer. He received the World War II Victory Medal.

He married Mary T. (Wilson) McConey on May 15, 1991, in Sevierville, Tenn.

Don spent 23 years at Warner Gear and 20 years at Hartford Concrete, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and American Legion.

Don will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary T. McConey, of Hartford City; daughter, Pam A. (companion, Mary LaMar) McConey, of Arcadia; step-daughter, Pam (husband, Earl) Clark, of Hartford City; step-son, William "Bill" (wife, Rena) Meredith, of Hartford City; grandchildren, Angie (husband, Andy) Campbell, Jessi Mahan, Adam Meredith, Kyle Meredith and Meredith (husband, Brad) Townsend; great-grandchildren, Ashton Mahan, Sam Campbell, Sophie Campbell and Ryan Townsend; his little dog, Jimmy.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joan McConey, son, Donald Allen McConey, and step-daughter, Patty Holt.

Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Cremains will be interred at Hartford City Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home.
