MONTPELIER – Sarah L. Garrett, 83, of Hartford City, passed away at 2:18 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Indiana University
Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
She was born on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1930, in Wells County.
Sarah married Charles M. Garrett on Sunday, Nov. 7, 1948, in Keystone.
She graduated from Chester Center High School, Wells County.
Sarah and her late husband did many things during their lifetime along with farming and were former owners of Hartford Automotive, Scotch Mist and multiple trucking companies.
In her free time she enjoyed woodworking, painting and gardening.
Sarah was heavily involved with First Baptist Church, Montpelier.
But above all else, she loved her family dearly.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (wife, Patti) Garrett, of Hartford City, and Rea (wife, Lisa) Garrett, of Summitville; one daughter, Rita (husband, Allen) Bell, of Hartford City; one brother, Kenneth (wife, Peggy) Stinson, of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two sisters, Anna Jane Hamilton, of Bluffton, and Nellie Sleppy, of Poneto; two sisters-in-law, Gloria (husband, Ralph) Keller, of Ossian, and Gail (husband, Jimmy) Rhoton, of Montpelier; one brother-in-law, Dean (wife, Jeannine) Garrett, of Montpelier; seven grandchildren, Cate (husband, John) Brandon, of Cleveland, Ohio, Carin (husband, Todd) Sherman, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Greg Barker, of Akron, Ohio, Nicole Barker, of Indianapolis, Josh (wife, Jade) Michael, of Fort Wayne, Melissa Michael, of Gas City, and Julie Garrett, of Summitville; two great-grandchildren, Archer Brandon and Beckett Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Garrett, her father, Roy E. Stinson, her mother, Mae Kingen, one daughter, Lisa M. Shilling, and one sister, Martha Haines.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 1 p.m.
A service to celebrate Sarah's life will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, with Pastor Bob Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Montpelier.
