HARTFORD CITY – Cory Michael Gerhart, 36, of Hartford City, and formerly of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.

He was born on May 3, 1977, in Anderson.
Cory was a 1995 graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School and he also attended Purdue University, West Lafayette.
In 1998 Cory received his real estate sales personal license from Indianapolis and in 2005 he received his brokers licenses from Tucker School of Real Estate, Indianapolis. He was a member of Anderson Madison County Association of Realtors (AMCAR) and had multiple Real Estate Owned (REO) certificates with many different banks and asset management companies in the surrounding areas.
Cory enjoyed volunteering at Christian Center, Ander-son, and was involved in the "Awana" children's program in Alexandria.
He enjoyed fishing, hiking at Mounds State Park, music, animals, especially his kitty Tigger, but most of all he loved being "Uncle" to his five nephews.
Survivors include his mother, Kristy (Fox) Gerhart, of Hartford City, IN., his father, Hank (Robin) Gerhart, of Anderson; three sisters, Sara Beth (Shawn) Wilhoite, of Alexandria, Karly (fiancé, Matt Hunter) Lawson, of Columbus, and Abby Gerhart, of Anderson; one brother, Patrick (Kimberly) Gerhart, of Anderson; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Berdean Gerhart, of Kokomo; special nephews, Felix Lawson, Cole Lawson and Atticus Lawson, all of Columbus, and Machiah Michael Wilhoite and Jaxson Wilhoite, both of Alexandria; best friend, Aaron Heifner, of Alexandria; special aunt, Toni Stewart, of Marion; other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Quentin and Byrdine Fox, special uncle, Robert Stewart, and special aunt, "Sissie" Allene Small.
Visitation will be conducted at Grace United Methodist Church, 312 W. Washington St., Hartford City, on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. A memorial ser-vice to celebrate Cory's life will follow with the Rev. Dr. Gary Hall officiating.
