HARTFORD CITY – Harold Otis Beal, 93, of Hartford City, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at The Waters of Indi-anapolis.

He was born in Hartford City on December 19, 1919, the son of Charles A. Beal and Bessie L. (Horn-baker) Beal. His parents preceded him in death.
Harold married Delight Ruth Beal on March 31, 1942, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hartford City. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1993.
He served in the United States Army from January 12, 1943, until January 3, 1946. He earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
Harold retired from Warner Gear (Borg Warner), Muncie, in 1979 after 39 years of employment. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Post and The Moose.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Dennis Lee Beal, of Indianapolis; daughters, Gerri (husband, John) Southerland, of Hemet, Calif., and Vickie L. (husband, Terry) Lynn, of Bloomington; grandchildren, Scott Southerland, Glenn Southerland and Traci Lynn; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Darrell Beal and Lucean Beal, and sisters, Mabel Vogel, Ruby Sinclair, Vivian Ellingwood and Maxine Beal.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home.
