HARTFORD CITY – Melissa L. Confer, 69, of Hartford City, passed away from complications at 12:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

Melissa was born in Hartford City on November 4, 1943, to the late Dewey Charles Wimmer and the late Mary Martha (Carr) Wimmer.
On November 18, 1961, she married Larry Lee Confer at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hartford City.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who loved her children, grandchildren and many friends. She faithfully attended her grandkids sporting events, plays and extra curricular events.
She loved puzzles and crocheting.
Melissa will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry L. Confer, two sons, C. Scott Confer, of Hartford City, and Steve T. (wife, Judy) Confer, of Dunkirk; one daughter, Michelle L. (husband, Daniel) Traylor, of Hartford City, two sisters, Patricia Turner, of Hartford City, and Ruth Snider, of Marion; six grandchildren; Christopher Confer, Alison Confer, Mackenzie Confer, Jackson Traylor, Hayley Confer and Jacob Confer; two step-grandchildren, Jessi Traylor and Jami Traylor; two step-great grandchildren, Rush and Riley; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Betty Melick, Virginia DeWitt, Geraldine Kendall, Donna Cooper, Rosemary Bradfield and June Daniels, and four brothers; Charles Wimmer, James Wimmer, William Wimmer and Richard Wimmer.
Funeral service will be on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. at 11 a.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Gary Hall of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.Interment will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home.
