MONTPELIER – Melvin D. Risinger, 83, of Montpelier, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

He was born on Wednesday, June 11, 1930, in Indiana.
Melvin married Elizabeth Ann Haworth Risinger on Saturday, October 17, 1953, in Montpelier.
He was a Montpelier High School graduate.
Melvin then served in the United States Army.
He retired from Indiana Corrugated and also was a former owner of Oil City Tavern, Montpelier.
Melvin was a member of Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156, Montpelier.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his one son, Randall D. (wife, Kathyran) Risinger, of Montpelier; one sister, Audrey (husband, Bill) Stroud, of Montpelier; two granddaughters, Michele Ogle, of Bessemer City, N.C., and Stephanie Risinger, of Montpelier; one step-grandson, Jamie McClain, of Montpelier; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel D. Risinger, his mother, Velma I. Evans, his wife, Elizabeth Ann (Haworth) Risinger, one daughter, Chris E. Risinger, and one grandson, Sammy D. Risinger.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
A service to celebrate Melvin's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier.
Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156, Montpelier, will be in charge of military graveside rites.
Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, Montpelier.
