HARTFORD CITY – Paul M. Oyler, 77, of Hartford City, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Veterans Administration Northern Indiana Medical, Marion.

He was born in the family farm house located in Richland Township, Grant County, on October 13, 1935, the son of Christina (Petterson) and Reed Neff Oyler.
As a young man, Paul was active in Future Farmers of America and 4-H, where he won many awards judging and showing hogs and dairy animals.
He graduated from Converse and Sweetser High School.
Paul served in the United States Army, from 1954 until 1955. He served during the Korean Conflict.
He married Margaret Ann (Maddox) Lanham, the love of his life, on August 6, 1977.
Paul was a well-known farmer in Richland Township, Grant County. He raised hogs and farmed several acres until he retired.
He was a member of Richland Methodist Church, near Converse.
He was a very loving and generous man and friendly to everyone he met.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret Ann Oyler, of Elm Croft, Muncie; his children, who openly adopted him into their lives since his marriage to their mother, Keith (wife, Sherry) Lanham, of Hartford City, Cheryl (husband, Tom) Jones of Fort Wayne, and Brian Lanham of Bristol, Tenn.; his biological children, Brian Oyler and Kay Marie Oyler; grandchildren, Doug (wife, Christine) Lanham, of Johnson City, Tenn., Amber (husband, Chuck) Overla, of Caledonia, Mich., Lesley Anne (husband, Shahin) Modarressi, of Ft. Wayne, John Cline III, of Fort Wayne, Michael Cline, of Fort Wayne, and Whitney Lanham, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Also, great-grandchildren, Alex Overla, Emily Overla, Quintin Lanham, Patrick Lanham and Arden Modarressi; four brothers, Lewis Oyler, of Marion, Lowell Oyler, of Marion, Maurice Oyler, of Marion, the Rev. Myron Oyler, of Muncie; special cousin, Donovan Eller, of Sheridan, Mich.; special nieces, Becky Clark, of Converse, and Cynthia Mullenix, of Converse; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Bill Maddox Jr., Don Maddox, Bob Riggs and Grover Gunter, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Maddox and Martha Elaine Maddox, mother-in-law, Mary Maddox, and father-in-law, William W. Maddox Sr.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with the Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation was from 3 to 5 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, and will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Keplinger Funeral Home.
