MONTPELIER – Robert "Bob" L. Abbott, 82, of Montpelier, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Indiana University Health Blackford Hospital, Hartford City.

He was born on Wednesday, May 6, 1931, in Blackford County.
Bob married Joan Sharp on Sunday, March 20, 1955, in Roll United Methodist Church.
He was a 1949 graduate of Roll High School.
Bob was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957.
He retired from Kerr Glass Company, Dunkirk, after many years of service. He was a Blackford County farmer for most of his life.
Bob loved to hunt and fish, but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a member of Hickory Grove Church of the Brethren, Dunkirk.
Survivors include his wife, Joan (Sharp) Abbott, of Montpelier; two daughters, Rhonda (Barry) Bower, of Bluffton, and Cathy (Ed) Yoder, of Greenfield; three sons, Robert (Anne) Abbott Jr., of Walkerville, Mich., Rodney Abbott, of Montpelier, and Randy (Patty) Abbott, of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Seth Bower, of Bluffton, Wade Bower, of Greenville, S.C.., Jodi Schweikhardt, of Montgomery, Ala., Derek Yoder, of Greenfield, Kyle Yoder, of Plainfield, Ross Yoder, of Greenfield, Tai Abbott, of Indianapolis, Robert Abbott III, of Indianapolis, Dustin Abbott, of Montpelier, Heather Gephart, of Hartford City, Cameron Abbott, of Indianapolis, and Tori Nelson, of Indianapolis; 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Will Abbott, his mother, Bethany (Taylor) Abbott, one brother, Harrold "Bud" Abbott, three sisters, Helen Dewey, Betty Wilson and Lenora Holloway, and one infant sister.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, from 1 to 7 p.m. and on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m. one hour before the service.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, with Pastor Earl Doll officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
