HARTFORD CITY – Shirley A. Bole, 77, of Hartford City, passed away at 5:52 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Indiana University Health Blackford Hospital, Hartford City.

She was born on Thursday, August 20, 1936, in Wells County.

Shirley married Charles K. Bole on Wednesday, May 26, 1954, in Hartford City.

She was a 1954 graduate of Hartford City High School.

Shirley enjoyed writing poems and letters, sewing and playing the piano and organ.

She spent most of her time making others happy and she especially loved being with her family.

Shirley was a member of Olive Branch Nazarene Church, rural Hartford City.

Survivors include her husband, Charles K. Bole, of Hartford City; three daughters, Sandy (husband, Tim) Norton, of Montpelier, Shelli (husband, Jeff) Nickols, of Hartford City, and Sherri (husband, Dennis) Leas, of Montpelier; one son, Charles "Chip" Bole, of Muncie; two sisters, Ruth (husband, Bus) Rogers, of Pennville, and Carol Lea Reed, of Gaston; two brothers, Bus (wife, Marilyn) Oswalt, of Muncie, and Phillip (wife, Winifred) Oswalt, of Dugger; seven grandsons, Tony (wife, Michelene) Norton, of Melbourne, Fla., Kent (wife, Amy) Norton, of Albany, Nic (wife, Kristi) Norton, of Hartford City, Ryan Matthew Bole, of Hartford City, Jerrid (wife, Misty) Nickols, of Ridgeville, Derek (wife, Amanda) Leas, of Hartford City, and Devin Leas, of Fort Wayne; four granddaughters, Casey (husband, Dustin) Gothrup, of Yorktown, Krysta Nickols, of Hartford City, Kristin Leas, of Hartford City, and Kiara Leas, of Montpelier; 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Oswalt Sr., her mother, Goldia (Melick) Starr, her step-father, Merrit "Bud" Starr, her step-mother, Betty Oswalt, one son, Randy K. Bole, one grandson, Jorden Nickols, three brothers, Dorwin Oswalt, Virgil Oswalt Jr. and Cecil "Bud" Oswalt, and two sisters, Sally Dubois and Francis Medler.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013.

A service to celebrate Shirley's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, with the Rev. Dewey Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, Roll.
