William A. "Bill" Wolverton

MONTPELIER – William "Bill" A. Wolverton, 91, of Van Wert, Ohio, and formerly of Montpelier, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Community Health Professionals, Van Wert, Ohio.

He was born on Saturday, March 24, 1923, in Montpelier.

Bill married Patricia Cary on Friday, August 25, 1944, in Fort Lewis, Wash.

He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1941.

Bill retired from Indiana Corrugated, Warren.

He was a member of Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156, Montpelier, and was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army.

Bill has been a past Commander of Post #156, past 4th district Commander, past department Vice Commander, past department membership Chairman, member of Anavicus, Jay Blackford 40-8 Voiture 988, past Chef DeGabe, former member of Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department and Elks Lodge #625, Hartford City.

He and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Winter Haven, Fla., and had been doing so since 1992.

Bill had been a lifetime Blackford County resident until moving to Van Wert, Ohio, three years ago.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Montpelier.

Bill will always be remembered for his good sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and entire community.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Cary) Wolverton, of Van Wert, Ohio; one son, William R. (wife, Nancy) Wolverton, of Van Wert, Ohio; two granddaughters, Nicole D. (husband, Brian) Milek, of Canton, Ohio, and Kimberly R. (husband, Kevin) Fessenden, of Milford, Ohio; one grandson, Reed T. Wolverton, of Van Wert, Ohio; four great-granddaughters, Lya Milek, of Canton, Ohio, Kathryn Milek, of Canton, Ohio, Amelia Milek, of Canton, Ohio, and Isabella Fessenden, of Milford, Ohio; one great-grandson, Weston Milek, Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, Abner Wolverton, and mother, Elsie M. (Hoskins) Hawk.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m.

A service to celebrate Bill's life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, with Pastor Bob Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, Montpelier. Graveside rites will be conducted by Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156, Montpelier.

Preferred memorials may be made to Millard-Brown American Legion #156 Firing Squad c/o Jeff Clouse, 112 W. Green St., Montpelier, IN 47359.
