HARTFORD CITY – Betty Jean Brown, 71, of Jamestown and formerly of Hartford City, died following an extended illness on Saturday evening, May 4, 2013, at Hendricks Regional Hospital, Danville.

She was born on June 3, 1941, in Hartford City and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jr. and Doris (Knight) Flatter.
Betty had been employed by Corning Glass, Bluffton, Premix, Hartford City, and retired from Bluffton Rubber, Hartford City. After retirement she worked at Crystal Flash, Whitestown.
She was a loving and caring person.
Betty is survived by her husband of 34 years, Martin W. Brown, of Jamestown; two daughters Laura (Rick) Edwards, of Jamestown, and Cynthia (Chuck) Ross, of Hartford City; three grandchildren, Terry Goodpaster, of Burlington, Iowa, Andy Ross, of Hartford City, and Travis Ross, of Hartford City; two great-grandchildren, Gideon Goodpaster, of Burlington, Iowa, and Felicity Goodpaster, of Burlington, Iowa; a sister Linda (Ted) Tarr, of Hartford City, a brother, Gary (Linda) Flatter, of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews; a very special companion, Daisy Mae.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, William Flatter.
Funeral services for Betty Jean will be conducted on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heart Asso-ciation of either Blackford County or Hendricks County, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
